Simultaneous Resonance
6.OCT.2023Simultaneous Resonance explores the experience of living with essential tremor and its subtle impact on social perceptions. The project delves into the challenges and attitudes associated with essential tremor, translating them into an interactive narrative. Aim to examine how society views these involuntary movements and how individuals embrace them without seeing them as flaws.
In the first stage, Numb - On Standby, participants are introduced to the visible effects of hand tremors. By visualizing the actual movements, the goal is to convey how tremors impact daily life for patients, often unnoticed by those without the condition.
The second stage, Escape - Disguise, delves into the psychological response. Here, participants experience the discomfort and resistance patients often feel toward handshaking. Tremor patients may try to mask their tremors due to the negative perception associated with their movements.
Finally, in the third stage, Relief - Rhythm, the tremor becomes a rhythmic element, transforming the once uncomfortable movements into an aesthetic experience. This stage encourages a shift in perception, where the tremor is no longer seen as a source of distress, but rather an intrinsic part of the individual’s unique rhythm.
